WHAT IS OFFICE 365?
Office 365 is a highly scalable, low cost and manageable productivity software solution that provides a business with standard Microsoft Office applications and other productivity services that are enabled through cloud services.
Plans are available for a business of one worker, all the way to tens of thousands and can be paid for monthly or annually.
WHAT’S INCLUDED IN OFFICE 365?
Office 365 includes the latest desktop versions of standard Office applications that you may already be familiar with. Users can install these office programs across multiple devices, including PCS, Macs, Tablets and Smartphone devices.
WORD
Microsoft Word doesn’t need an introduction, it is the most popular word-processing program in the world, and for good reason. It is an effective, easy to use and feature-packed tool that is supported by both Mac, Windows, Tablets and Smartphone devices.
EXCEL
Microsoft Excel is the most popular spreadsheet program used for entering, calculating and analysing numerical figures, such as sales figures. Through performing basic calculations, you can create filtered tables and graphs to simplify data into easily readable formats.
POWERPOINT
Microsoft PowerPoint is the most popular presentation program used to create rich, and easy to make, slideshow presentations. Used in conjunction with Excel, you are able to present numerical data in dynamic and visually pleasing ways.
ONENOTE
Microsoft OneNote is an amazing, powerful and collaborative note taking application that allows you to easily categorise notes like with folders where you can have categories within categories.
One cool feature I particularly like about OneNote is the Web Clipper that you install as an extension to your web browser.
The Web Clipper is basically a super-evolved Snipping Tool that allows you to capture full-page websites, a selection, even detect recipes that are automatically captured or create a bookmarked linked with a short summary and picture about the webpage.
OUTLOOK
Microsoft Outlook is a personal information manager which is usually used mainly as an email application. However, Outlook is so much more than just an email client. Microsoft Outlook includes an easy to use and collaborative calendar and task manager, as well as a contacts database to store contact information, note taking and even a built-in web browser.
PUBLISHER
Only available for PC, Microsoft Publisher is similar to Microsoft Word, just with much more emphasis on design and page layout. Word is better off for creating long documents with lots of formatting, whereas Publisher is great for designing documents like booklets, pamphlets or greeting cards.
ACCESS
When it comes to storing and managing hundreds, or thousands, of records, Microsoft Excel will struggle and errors may be unnoticed. That is where Microsoft Access comes in.
Also, only currently available for PC, Access is a database management system that allows you to analyse large amounts of information and manage data more efficiently than Microsoft Excel. Although it looks there is a learning curve, Access is simple to use, perfect for creating automated database management systems to store large amounts of data.
Office 365 for business also includes additional services not found on the home version. These services include Skype for Business web conferencing, exchange online hosted email for business, and additional storage with OneDrive for Business.
