LEARN NEW SKILLS AND EXPAND YOUR KNOWLEDGE
At Lily we are always encouraging our teams to learn new skills and to grow themselves by expanding their knowledge. We have created a dedicated online platform called the Lily Performance Academy for our employees to learn about all areas of the business as well as improving their knowledge and skill set.
We wanted to share our love of learning by providing you with some great sources and online schools to learn in your free time, whether this is on an evening, during the weekend or throughout the day if you’re currently on furlough (The Government’s job retention scheme).
Pass time and learn and possibly add to your CV!
Harvard University is a goldmine for free online courses. As of this post, there are currently 70 free courses that you can get enrolled onto, ranging from Computer Science, Business, Programming, Humanities and more! Certain courses last up to 12 weeks, so if you’re up to challenging yourself and want to learn something new then look at what courses they have.
Google Digital Garage is a great online learning academy to improve your marketing, data, and tech knowledge. Merging video, text and a quiz after each lesson, most learning styles are covered! Once again, tons of free lessons and courses are available, some that even lead to a certificate. This is one we highly recommend as now is no better time to learn new skills that can help you in the digital world.
Ever wanted to learn code? Check out CodeAcademy and learn for free whilst in the comfort of your home. Learning code is especially useful in the current age. From building websites to creating HTML emails and analysing data, code is everywhere, and you should learn it for your advantage. For kinaesthetic learners, CodeAcademy teaches you through doing, and you can start at any level.
Whatever you want to learn, there’s a good chance that Skillshare can help and there is still a good chance that Skillshare can help you for free! Watch experts in their fields and learn through engaging video lessons. Why not try watching a free class every day? Find a topic or skill that you really enjoyed? It may be worth looking at the more advanced lessons.
Alison is another area you can look at for more free online courses, again some that lead to certificates for you to showcase. One thing we like about Alison is that you can see what the current trending courses are, as well as see their most popular courses. This is great if you are struggling to figure out what to learn whilst on furlough. There are so many topics out there and all of them are useful. The more popular/trending a course is, the more likely that those skills are in demand and beneficial for you.
